The Last Caesar Dressing You’ll Ever Need

October 15, 2017 By Salad Therapy Jump to Recipe28 Comments

SHARE THE LOVE

I’m not joking. This dressing has all the classic Caesar salad flavor with none of the things that make traditional Caesar salad junk food. It’s not just not unhealthy; it’s actually good for you! Like, really good! Every ingredient is seriously beneficial to your health.

Another major bonus: unlike so many plant-based caesar dressing recipes made by blending cashews, there’s NO equipment needed here except a cup and a spoon! All my Jewish ladies: put your hands up – you can make this on Shabbat! Or any day that you’re just not in the mood to wash your blender.

Great Ingredients

The creaminess comes from raw almond butter and tahini, and a wonderfully zesty zing comes just the right amount of mustard. You will be amazed at how the surprising ingredients come together to give you all the flavors of an old favorite without any of the stuff you might be trying to avoid.

If you’re new to tahini, you are about to fall in love. I use it in everything from salads to roasted veggies to waffle batter to popcorn and more! Here’s one you can purchase online and get delivered the very next day!*

I also love using a really good quality raw apple cider vinegar with “the mother” for a dose of probiotic goodness! Here’s a link to one of my favorites.* You can also find most or all of the ingredients for this recipe in my online shop.

Make It a Meal

For some extra crunch, break up some of my oil-free oven-baked tortilla chips over the top like croutons! Then for a good dose of protein and texture, I added spiced roasted chickpeas to the salad pictured here. I already love roasted chickpeas, but these were reeeally good. All I did was put the beans on a parchment-paper-lined baking sheet, sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, a little smoked paprika, and lots of black pepper, then roasted ’em in the oven for 30-40 minutes on 400 degrees.

I really hope you guys enjoy this recipe as much as we do. If you make and love it, don’t be shy! Let me know in the comments here and on social media @saladtherapy! Happy eating!

Course Salad
Cuisine Vegan
Servings 1 cup

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons raw almond butter
  • 2 tablespoons tahini sesame paste - NOT tahini dressing with other ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar white vinegar or rice vinegar are fine, too
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened nondairy milk or water
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon vegan Worcestershire sauce optional

Instructions

  • Stir or shake thoroughly until well combined and creamy.

Notes

About 1/4 cup is needed per 2 large handfuls of chopped romaine. That's the amount I used for a lunch salad for one, plus about half a can's worth of roasted chickpeas.

The name of this dressing is the TRUTH! So good and so easy! I’ve been looking for a Caesar dressing for a long time, but didn’t want to bother with the whole soaking cashews and such. This one I was able to whip together with stuff I already had in my pantry.

I always have a difficult time eating salad because I can never find a dressing that I love. This is hands down the best dressing I’ve ever had. I’ve made it pretty much every day since I tried it. Looking forward to trying more recipe recommendations.

It seems to me it would be challenging to get the tahini and almond butter to incorporate just by shaking in a jar. Convince me!

You can certainly stir it in if you want, but I prefer shaking (as with any tahini dressing I make) because I find it incorporates everything well and makes the dressing smoother faster. But don’t just give a little shake – shake vigorously for 30 seconds or so until you can feel that it’s thickened up and well incorporated. Good luck!

    Love this recipe!
But just a reminder that most Worcestershire sauce contains fish, so be sure to get a vegan version.

Thank you so much! Yup, I only buy vegan Worcestershire sauce! However these days I usually just leave that ingredient out.

This is a really great tasting dressing! Have had guests compliment it! Caesar salad is my favorite and I love being able to use healthy fats instead of Mayo.
