This bright, refreshing smoothie takes only minutes to prepare, is uber nutritious, and tastes as good as morning sunshine feels. With tropical vibes and even some undetectable hidden veg, it’s a perfect way to start your day!
I love just about anything with strawberries in it, but the pineapple and cherries add a whole new depth of flavor, and the oranges add that citrusy boost that takes a fruit smoothie from great to “oh…my…goodness.”
Iceberg lettuce – commonly mistaken as a nutritionless vegetable – provides an extra punch of vitamins and minerals, but you could really use any veg that you have on hand.
I tend to always have some kind of random greens in the freezer. Whenever my greens start going a little too wilted for a salad but are still not bad, or if I have a small amount of leftover greens that is just not enough to use in any recipe on its own, I freeze them to use in smoothies, soups, casseroles, or whatever. It works great, and it cuts down big time on waste!
I usually blend in some nuts or seeds to my smoothies since the fat facilitates absorption of the other nutrients in the smoothie, but I’m out of EVERYTHING right now! If you have some flax seeds, chia seeds, or any other nuts or seeds on hand, I would recommend adding a tablespoon or so of whatever you have on hand to give this already super smoothie an extra boost!
